Amplifying and Empowering Black Women in the Arts

“An artist’s duty…is to reflect the times.”

The African American Women Artists Collective (AAWA) is a network dedicated to uplifting, connecting, and celebrating Black women artists across all disciplines — from visual arts and performance to literature and design.
Founded on a passion for creating spaces where African American women artists can thrive, AAWA provides exhibitions, mentorship, professional development, and opportunities for creative collaboration.
We believe representation matters — and we’re building a future where the stories, visions, and voices of Black women in the arts are seen, supported, and celebrated worldwide.
We are a dedicated African American artists organization committed to uplifting and celebrating the work of Black women artists across all disciplines. As a women of color artists network, we create space for African American women artists to thrive, connect, and share their stories. Through exhibitions, events, and community outreach, we support Black women artists by providing visibility, resources, and opportunities for collaboration. Whether you’re seeking to explore the rich legacy of African American art collectives or engage with the next generation of Black women in the arts, our platform is here to inspire, empower, and elevate.
