Reparations Renaissance

Reparations Renaissance is an intellectual and art movement started by African American artists and activists in California in the 2020’s. The movement amplifies the call for financial reparations for Black American descendants of American Freedmen, while expanding the cultural narrative around what repair makes possible when justice is materially fulfilled.

The Three Pillars

Black Culture and Excellence

Showcase and honor Black mastery and stories through art. Assert Black intellectual authority grounded in the lineage of American Freedmen.

Economic Empowerment

Create work that imagines and supports thriving Black futures. Advance ideas and practices that strengthen Black economic growth and reparative justice.

Healing and Community

Make art that restores dignity, connection, and collective well-being. Support reparations and initiatives that repair generational harm and foster community resilience.
